Diese Teppiche begründeten den guten Ruf der persischen Knüpfkunst. Er ist ein sehr beliebter Teppich aus einem der besten Knüpfgebiete Persiens. Sie haben oft ein großes, zentral platziertes Medaillon aus schönen Blumenmotiven, ein typisch orientalisches Motiv. Täbriz-Teppiche haben häufig die zusätzliche Bezeichnung Raj. Man unterscheidet zwischen 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 Raj. Je höher die angegebene Zahl ist, desto feiner und dichter ist der Teppich geknüpft. Raj ist eine Qualitätsbezeichnung und bezieht sich auf die Anzahl der Knoten auf einer Breite von ca. 70 mm.
