Ra is the sun god of ancient Egypt. Known as the patron of the sun, heavens, kingship, power, and light, he was not only the deity who governed the actions of the sun, but he could also be the physical sun itself, as well as the day. The Eye of Ra was once a representation of power, protection, and royal authority, and remains a protective symbol for many, keeping evil and danger at bay.
We've engraved this powerful, ancient symbol onto our 26" White Gong, which has a rim like a Chau Gong but is also fully lathed like a Wind Gong. As expected, the White Gong has qualities of both these traditional Chinese gongs. The full lathing creates a bright, airy sound with a shiny splash, but the rim focuses that splash, and gives clarity to the overall sound.
