LP version. 2015 release. Nomade Orquestra came together in Sao Paolo in the year 2012, though they could just as easily have emerged fully formed into our world from a mystical land where spaced out jazz soundtracks daily life and the passing of time is rhythm and groove. Such is their elusive, ethereal yet highly accomplished and deeply funky otherness. The time is ripe for ten of the most talented and daring musicians working in Brazil today to deliver their fully formed debut. Effortlessly weaving through the disparate sounds of Brazil's diverse musical diaspora, the group describe themselves and their shared project as "the point where different musical expressions and strands meet and interact in a unique way." From funk and soul to Afro-beat, Ethio-grooves, dub and hip hop, their sound remains firmly anchored in the world of jazz while taking off to the cosmic stratosphere and incorporating electronic elements, alongside traditional Brazilian styles. In line with the bands's musical and spiritual influences, adopted from age old lineages of the global east, the album's opening track "Samurai" kicks off the psychedelic party with the strike of a gong. Dream-like synths, Marcos Mauricio's arresting piano and André Calixto's beautifully expressive tenor saxophone shed the first light on this enchanting new incarnation of global roots music. "Sonhos de Tóquio" hypnotic grooving bassline is complimented with psychedelic guitar riffs and ominous synth washes, building a sound both tranquil and unsettling. Bobby McFerrin makes an appearance in spirit on "Bedum", possibly the album's most directly expressive track. "Morning Birds", features the talents of Otis Trio's Beto Montag, who brings his deft marimba playing to the party for an Afro-beat tinged beauty that further highlights the varied and deep roots of Nomade's musical influences. "Garuda" finds Nomade Orchestra in a more contemplative, mood. Bringing together soaring Chinese flutes, Hawaiian style fuzz guitar, snake charming saxophone and some world class oud playing from guest musician Luciano Sallun, the track is a spiritual wonder and another part of a highly sensory journey that recalls the mystical jazz musings of Herbie Hancock and Pharoah Sanders while sounding like the Brazilian take on Taoism. Making music like none other in Brazil, or indeed the world, Nomade Orquestra lead the way.

4 star read - dark gothic romance
Format: Kindle
Master of Salt and Bones by Keri Lake
4 STAR READ
“You’re my curse. Staying away from you, is like trying to hold my breath when the tide is rising.”
This book reminds me a lot of Nightshade, also by Keri Lake, but without the fantasy element. It gives off the same gothic vibes, including flash backs, history of abuse, and sexual deviances. It also has some overlap with the older male character obsession that is seen in Nocticadia - though Lucien doesn’t hold a candle to Professor Bramwell.
SUMMARY
Lucien was abused, lied to, and manipulated his whole life, by everyone who should have protected and cared for him. A wealthy heir to a massive fortune, he is hard, dark, and delicious. The story unfolds across two timelines, jumping between Lucien’s past and present, and Isa’s POV. Lucien is viewed as the devil of Tempest Cove, covered in scars and rumors abound involving the death of his wife and son. Isa is the daughter of the town whore, who has struggle to fit in and cope with the tribulations of her life. Lucien hires Isa to be his mother’s companion, to keep her company and encourage her to get out of bed each day. As they continue to bump into each other and interact, their relationship develops beyond his dark obsession. Lucien is wary to get attached as his connection to a dangerous secret society puts everyone he cares about at risk, however there may be no way around Isa’s involvement.
WHAT I LIKED and DISLIKED
It was a great story full of tragedy and resilience. Both characters have deep back stories that unfold throughout the book, we get information at just the right time to make things make sense. It is really well told. It does feel a bit slow in the middle, I took a mid book break to read something else but came back to it and wondered why I stopped - the reason I gave 4 stars was because I had the need to take the break. Which tells me I lost interest during part of it.
Lucien has so many layers and each one is full of sadness and devastation. Isa’s story is tragic in its own way, however her youth has her dealing with them in a difference way - she is definitely more detached in her own way.
There is an age gap - Lucien is 33, Isa is 19 — I’m not usually a fan of this kind of age gap, but Isa isn’t childish or immature so it works. The book definitely gives Grumpy x sunshine vibes. The spice is well done and paced well throughout the book.
If you like spicy, gothic, dark romance and have enjoyed other books by Keri Lake this book will not disappoint.
There are references to rape, sexual abuse, physical abuse, and mental illness — I would check any triggers before reading

ABSOLUTELY A MUST for Omegaverse Girls!!!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Jillian West and her books!!! I’m so happy I already bought book two and now I have to buy the others for the Assurance Security series!!
Not gonna lie Val kind of annoyed me at the beginning but she grew on me!! Her men are chef’s kisses!!! Holt annoys me some but I can let it slide. I already bought part two so I’m going to be reading that in between work phone calls!!!! DON’T TELL MY BOSS 😂😂😂😂

Baby bumps and bodyguards
Format: Kindle
Dark, emotional, and unexpectedly tender, Not Ready is an omegaverse romance that delivers found family feels, fierce protectiveness, and a very pregnant heroine who refuses to break. Vale’s on the run from a stalker, but lands in the arms of three private security alphas, cue the swoony tension, fake marriage twist, and slow-burn heat.
It’s a little gritty, a little soft, and a whole lot addictive. If you love protective alphas, high stakes, and heroines with quiet strength, this one’s a must-read.

Strong Omegaverse Comfort and a Attention Grabbing Plot
Format: Kindle
Jillian West never misses when it comes to Omegaverse, and Not Ready is no exception. This story was the perfect blend of cozy comfort and emotional depth while still delivering a strong plot.
Vale is such a powerful heroine, she is strong, capable, and determined but I love that she still allows her pack to love and take care of her. It’s that balance of independence and vulnerability that makes her so relatable.
The relationship dynamics were amazing: Bishop is steadfast and completely head over heels, Mercy is skeptical but protective in his own way, and Holt is the hesitant one whose slow fall is so satisfying to watch unfold.
The romance hits that sweet spot between insta-love and cautious build, keeping me hooked the entire way through. And that ending. Oh my god, the cliffhanger! I need the next book in this duet immediately.

Interesting
Format: Kindle
So I will say I enjoyed the story, for sure had its moments where it dragged but it was a great story. I really liked that omegas picked their alphas/make the pack. Normally the Alphas make it and the omega fits in with them which is great but I enjoyed this new version where all the power basically went to the omega. It was a nice change of pace. I can admit some of the weird bedroom stuff with her being pregnant was odd, it’s really not hard to do stuff when pregnant (I know I’ve had two and it’s normal and even encouraged at the end especially if you want the baby out). But I like the story as a whole and will read the second, I do hope the next one isn’t dragged bc it stopped being action or tense after she met her alphas and I don’t think it was brought up or properly done when they tried to do it. More sweet after she left.
