It was the worn patina to the arms and leather that really caught my eye.

And then things got better with the faded words 'Czechoslovakia' and 'Thonet' branded underneath. 

There are also the scrappy remains of the paper label in the usual place - underneath on the inside of the rim.

There are no signs of repair underneath and the original screws including the squarehead ones are present.

There are a few of the studs missing from round the leather and a very slight partial split to one of the bentwood struts underneath (see photos) but still structurally good - a slight split on this area of the chair is very common on Thonet chairs.

Personally, I really like this shabby untouched original look., but it could easily be tidied up more and reupholstered if needed.
