These films explore a range of complex topics in vivid and accessible ways, from space travel and laser technology to genetic engineering, global warming, and the consequences of nuclear weaponry. Though actual scientific lab work might not be as exciting, science fiction is an engaging yet powerful way for a wide audience to explore some of the most pressing issues and ideas of our time. In this book, a scientist and dedicated film enthusiast discusses the portrayal of science in more than one hundred films, including science fiction, scientific biographies, and documentaries. Beginning with early films like Voyage to the Moon and Metropolis and concluding with more recent offerings like The Matrix, War of the Worlds, A Beautiful Mind, and An Inconvenient Truth, Sidney Perkowitz questions how much faith we can put into Hollywood's depiction of scientists and their work; how accurately these films capture scientific fact and theory; whether cataclysms like our collision with a comet can actually happen; and to what extent these films influence public opinion about science and the future. Movies, especially science-fiction films, temporarily remove viewers from the world as they know it and show them the world as it might be, providing special perspective on human nature and society. Good set of clubs for beginners to find out if golf is their game! You'll need a putter, though.

This nice inexpensive set is great for a beginner at golf, which is me--never played before. I don't evem know if I'm going to like playing, but at least I have a set of clubs so that I can give it a try...it's the exercise from walking the course that appeals to me. My son says he can teach me, even using mens clubs. I figure if I like the game, I can get a nicer set of ladies clubs and pass this set to my grandson. If I don't like the game, I can still pass the set along to my grandson! My son thought these clubs were decent weight and quality and well worth the price...the only thing missing was a putter, but we found a cheaper one to add to the set.

Good second-level pickleball paddles for a great price

I've been playing pickleball for a while now, though not ever well. I have progressed from wooden paddles and just trying things out to bundles of basic fiberglass paddles and balls to higher-end paddles that individually cost more than the "multi-paddle plus balls" bundles. I have kids and kids-in-law and grandkids, and not everyone has their own paddles. Thus, I purchased this set to get a couple more paddles.
This Amazon Basics set of 2 paddles, four balls, and a carrying case is a starter set, maybe one step up from the basic wooden paddles that I started with. The paddles are nice, light-weight but sturdy, with a decent surface that should allow some level of control. The grips are nice, and there is some additional grip tape you can use to retape a handle that wears out.
The balls are standard balls, and should get you started.
The case is similar to cases I've purchased before with other sets. Unfortunately, the makers skimped on the zipper. It only has one (another case from a similar set had two zippers), and after just a few uses, the zipper completely fell off (see photo). This makes the case completely useless, and definitely drops my rating.
But, given the price, the quality of the paddles, and the four balls, this is still a great starter set, even without a cheap carrying case. I'm happy to have the extra balls and paddles.

Soooo cute & girly!

This cute coral and white pickleball paddle set is perfect for beginners or casual games. The paddles feel sturdy and well made, and the color combo is really fun and stylish. I also love that it comes with two different types of balls, so you’re ready to play right away. The compact carrying bag is a great bonus too — it keeps everything organized and is easy to bring to the court.
