"'I find it tedious that, in music, we usually only see one type of love represented,' says Yorkshire composer, musician, and music therapist Aby Vulliamy. 'I'm not interested in writing about that.' Spin Cycle, Vulliamy's debut album, is indeed an album about love: love at it's most transformative, love at it's most dreary, love at it's most challenging, love at it's most desperate. It is, to quote the writer who has found her voice in these songs, an album about 'love, life and the reality of parenthood - not just the pink and fluffy bits.' 'For years, I thought of myself as a purely social musician who couldn't self-generate - that my strength was in taking what someone else had put out there, and adding to it,' explains Vulliamy. 'That's the role of the viola: you don't notice that we're there until we screw up.' 'It's only since having had my daughters that I've been able to put words to music. Motherhood turned my life upside down and suddenly, sitting there in the dark, the words just flowed.' The result is both intimate and visceral, full of snatched moments and vivid imagery. Opening track 'Spin Cycle' effectively captures domestic drudgery in four lines, performed in the round. 'Rock Me Tender' is an evocative portrayal of the lonely, quiet, sleep-deprived terror of a breastfeeding mother. The frantic, furious 'Good Enough' delivers a jarring, atonal riposte to society's judgment of women, mothers or not, once they reach childbearing age while 'This Precious Time' acts as the album's heart as Vulliamy's layered vocals, backed by rich, mournful trombone and double bass, at once lament and celebrate the inevitable growth of her children from infants to little women. Vulliamy credits long-time collaborator Stevie Jones (Sound of Yell) with 'making the album happen' - by encouraging her to properly document material she had only ever considered performing live, but also in the more practical sense of engineering, producing and mixing the tracks over a period of four years at Glasgow's Chem19 and Kinning Park Complex studios. Work and child-rearing made recording time scattered and precious, making Vulliamy keen to acknowledge the roles played by her musician partner George Murray, whose trombone contributions appear on the album, and Jones' partner Jill Wilson in giving the album space to come together. Bill Wells (melodica), Fritz Welsh (percussion) and Christina Rhys (harp) also appear." -Lisa-Marie Ferla

Pampers Baby Dry are actually good again! Major upgrade.
Size: Size 3, Unit Count: 168
I’ve used Baby Dry off and on for a while, but the new “improved” version is a huge step up from the old design. They used to feel kind of generic, thin, boxy, and not great for active toddlers, but now they’re a real contender next to Swaddlers and Huggies Little Movers. What’s new: • The shape is much more like Swaddlers, snugger around the hips and legs, less floppy in the front. • Tabs are noticeably stronger and stretchier. • The inside has a new ultra cushiony top layer that feels soft and plush, not papery. • They seem to have a slightly faster and more even absorbency, too. • Still the same cute Sesame Street prints and blue inner layer, but the overall fit and quality feel more “premium.” Size-wise, the new Baby Dry run a bit larger than Huggies size 3 but a touch smaller than Swaddlers size 3 so a great in-between fit. For parents like us who can’t use 360-style pull-ons at daycare, these are perfect. They have tabs, fit toddlers well, and hold up to big pees without the sag or stiffness the old Baby Dry had. Bottom line: a big win for Pampers these finally feel like a proper toddler diaper, not an expensive generic. Highly recommend giving them another try if you haven’t used them recently!

Reliable overnight protection with minimal leaks
Size: Size 6, Unit Count: 112
These have been very reliable for overnight use. They hold a lot without leaking, even after a full night of sleep. The fit is secure around the legs and waist without leaving marks. I also appreciate that they don’t have a strong scent. Compared to other brands I’ve tried, these seem to last longer before needing a change. Only minor downside is they can feel a bit bulky when very full, but that’s expected for the absorbency.

Just works for us!
Size: Size 1, Unit Count: 44
Had to transfer from Huggies and Pura because our son kept leaking through those, despite trying all the tips and tricks. Needless to say we’re really pleased with these! They’re WAY more absorbent. Only downside is that it’s not designed for sensitive skin, but diaper rash cream always does the trick for our little guy

Outstanding, top of the line diaper!
Size: Size 1, Unit Count: 252
We normally use Huggies Little Movers with our 3.5 year old (nothing against them, they're also great diapers) but recently decided to give Swaddlers a try, and will not be going back. This is a top-of-the-line diaper and excels in all ways. We use a size 7 though could *probably* get away with a size 6, and use about 4-5 diapers a day on average (not including his overnight diaper) depending on how much he's had to drink and how often he poops -usually once a day, but could be as many as 3 times, especially if he doesn't go one day. The first thing you notice about these diapers is how soft they are. I mean, they just feel like they would be comfortable on a child, and since they're in them practically 24/7, that's important. The diaper is mostly white, and the overall designs are more muted than a lot of other diapers, with "Shilo and Friends" -an elephant and duck - on the front and back. I personally wouldn't mind something bolder, I don't think my child cares or even notices. There is a wetness indicator that goes down the length of the diaper, front and back. Nice to have I suppose for a caregiver who maybe doesn't change a lot of diapers, but at this age and stage, it's easy to know and tell. Like all Pampers diapers, they are scented. I happen to love the gentle powder-like scent, but it's a turn-off to some who describe it as too strong, and of course, if your child is sensitive to that, you may want to avoid Pampers diapers. Inside, the top sheet liner keeps his skin dry, even when he wets heavily -which is usually - and does a good job of keeping poop from sticking to his bottom. The "blowout barrier" in the back also helps contain any messes. In terms of absorbency, I'm pretty amazed at how much they can hold. Being a little older, he tends to stay drier for longer periods and then pee a larger amount at one time, but the diaper almost always holds it in, and leaks are rare. The one thing I wish that Pampers did do was have wider tapes, like Huggies, at least on the larger sizes, where kids are more active. It hasn't been a problem, so I don't really have a reason for saying that, other than that it seems like it would help with fit, but it certainly won't keep me from buying or using them in the future.
