Drawing from the guiding lights of the genres that have been emanating from the club’s soundsystems and fitting alongside their already hugely established fabric mix series and Houndstooth label, the imprint aims to release special projects from the artists that form the present and future of boundary pushing club music globally.
To launch the label, fabric Originals today unveil A Day After A Night With U/Stars & Water, a new split 12” on coloured vinyl from hi-NRG pioneers Eris Drew & Octo Octa.
Opening with ‘A Day After A Night With You’, Eris Drew draws on elements of 90s big beat with a propulsive twist, adding chest-rattling bass notes to anchor the track’s eyes-down 4/4 rhythm. The track’s throwback sensibilities push to the fore further with an infectious soul vocal sample and vintage feeling synths, alongside an almost spiritual mysticism that permeates the song’s skittering production and upbeat melodics.
Created in reaction to ‘A Day After A Night With You’’s dancefloor wonder, Octo Octa’s ‘Stars & Water’ takes on a much more commanding tone. Finding cues from a classic house sound, the track employs deft polyrhythms to build progressive energy. The track’s analog bassline contributes to its authoritative tempo before a beautifully spacious switch up leads the track from a high energy workout to a half-time wander through the track’s sonic oasis, before an ecstatic build towards a final climax.
