Background Solon (1897-1973) was a prominent poster artist from the 1930s onward who also worked for Air France, St Raphael and Sabena. The map shows all the classic wine regions of metropolitan France. Less familiar today are the wines of Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, though they have a long history and at the time the poster was created Algeria was famous for its wines.
