It was bred by Thomas Laxton but renamed by fellow nurseryman George Bunyard in 1894. Allington Pippin apples are by all accounts on the sharp side but can also be cooked. Allington's Pippin was originally called the South Lincoln Pippin - a cross between King of Pippins and Cox's Orange Pippin. The rootstock for all our apple trees, including Allington Pippin, is the most vigorous available. MM106, or M106, produces a good sized garden tree. Please refer to our size guide for details.

All our apple trees are bare root, so they are only available between November and April. During lifting season, there will be a delay between placing the order and dispatching due to pressure of orders, which are dealt with in date sequence, and the weather. Orders taken from June-October will be confirmed in late October/ early November after a nursery stock take, for dispatch from November.
