But where this camera truly shines is in video. The S5D is built for creators who want cinema-grade performance without lugging around cinema-grade bulk. You get 10-bit 4K 60p/50p recording in 4:2:0, C4K/4K 30p/25p in 4:2:2 10-bit, and even 4K 8-bit with no recording time limit — perfect for long interviews, extended takes, and documentary work. (4K 60p/50p is available in APS-C or PIXEL/PIXEL mode.)
Need external recording? The S5D has you covered. Shoot 4:2:2 10-bit over HDMI while recording internally to SD (except in C4K/4K 60p/50p). Push your creative boundaries further with 5.9K 29.97p, 4.1K 59.94p, and 3.5K 50.00p 12-bit RAW output over HDMI, ready to save as ProRes RAW on ATOMOS Ninja V or Blackmagic RAW on the Video Assist 12G HDR. This is serious filmmaking capability in a remarkably compact body.
Right out of the box, the camera comes loaded with V-Log and V-Gamut, giving you 14+ stops of dynamic range and a colour palette that rivals Panasonic’s renowned VariCam cinema line. Highlights roll off naturally, shadows stay rich and textured, and your footage becomes a dream to colour-grade.
