I made this for the days when I want pearls, but I don’t want to feel too “dressy.” The bar shape has a calm structure to it — it sits close to the skin, frames the collarbone, and somehow makes everything look more put-together.

What I love most is what it does when you wear it. The clean lines make your neckline look longer and quieter — not “sweet” like a classic round strand, but modern and intentional. It shifts the whole vibe from cute to something more grown-up: soft, but with a little edge. You can wear it to the office with a button-down, or to dinner with a black dress, and it never feels out of place. Up close it has that “clean tenderness” I’m always chasing — calm, not cold.

For this necklace, I chose high-quality bar-shaped pearls (they’re technically baroque, just in a more structured form). The funny thing is: the shape looks simple, but the material is not easy at all. Bar pearls are much harder to find with a smooth, bright surface — the skin can easily show texture, so when you get a batch that catches light cleanly, it’s genuinely rare. That’s why this style is one of my quiet favorites: it looks effortless, but the pearls had to earn it.

You’ll also notice the tiny silver “shards” between the pearls. I love that little sparkle — it keeps the piece from feeling flat, like small flashes of light breaking up the pearl glow. But sterling silver can oxidize quickly in tiny components like this, so we use sterling silver and give the spacers a protective plated finish to help them stay bright longer. It’s a small detail, but it’s the kind of detail that keeps the whole necklace feeling crisp over time.
