This Handmade Rug originated from Eastern Anatolia, Turkey and was woven mid 20th Century by VillageWeavers according to traditional designs and techniques passed from generation to generation of home based village weavers. Perfect for Pastel Room Decor, this is a Vintage Turkish Oushak Floor Rug in Pale Pink, Soft Mint Green and Cream/Off White measuring 7 ft 5 in x 5 ft 2 in (226 cm x 157 cm). This Handmade Rug originated from Eastern Anatolia, Turkey and was woven mid-20th Century by VillageWeavers according to traditional designs and techniques passed from generation to generation of home-based village weavers. Locally sourced sheep wool was hand-spun and then dyed with vegetable / organic dyes specific to the area. These rugs were traditionally quite bold and strongly colored and had quite thick, long pile/nap. However, such strongly colored and heavily piled rugs are not as compatible with contemporary home decor as they were with life in the Villages in Turkey, so the colors in this rug have been softened and faded in natural sun light and the pile reduced / shaved to produce the “Vintage Distressed” / “Pastel Overdyed” look so in keeping with modern home decoration trends. These rugs combine a Pale Muted Contemporary Color Palette with Vintage Antique Look Design appeal and the Reduced Pile allows for flexibility of placement under furniture and ease of cleaning
