Precision Battery Monitoring with the Votronic 200A Smart Shunt and Remote LCD Display

Accurate, Real-Time Insight for 12V and 24V Battery Systems

The Votronic 200A Battery Monitor (Model 200S) provides a clear, real-time view of your battery's state of charge, current flow, and voltage. Unlike basic voltage-based indicators, this unit uses a 200A precision smart shunt to measure actual energy entering and leaving the battery, delivering a true 'fuel gauge' for lead-acid, gel, AGM, and LiFePO4 banks. The bright, white-illuminated LCD display presents remaining capacity in both ampere-hours (Ah) and percentage (%), so you always know exactly how much usable energy remains.

Designed for 12V and 24V systems, the monitor also tracks the voltage of a secondary battery, such as a vehicle's starter battery, giving you complete oversight of your dual-battery setup. A programmable switching output can automatically disconnect loads when the battery reaches a user-defined low state of charge, preventing harmful deep discharge and extending battery service life.

Why a Shunt-Based Monitor Outperforms Voltage-Only Gauges

Voltage-based battery indicators can be misleading, especially under load or during charging. The Votronic 200S employs a microprocessor-controlled, shunt-based measurement system that counts every amp-hour in and out. This eliminates guesswork and provides a reliable state-of-charge reading regardless of surface charge or voltage sag. The included 35mm² braided copper ground strap ensures a low-resistance connection, maintaining accuracy even at high currents up to 200A continuous (300A for 15 minutes, 400A for 7 minutes).

For installers and system integrators, the smart shunt features M8 bolt terminals (approx. 5/16"-18) for secure high-current connections and an RJ12 socket for the plug-and-play communication cable to the remote display. The compact shunt (135x32x44mm) and shallow display mounting depth allow flexible installation in tight spaces, such as behind panels or in vehicle cabins.

Key Features

  • 200A smart shunt with microprocessor-controlled coulomb counting for precise state-of-charge tracking
  • Bright LCD remote display shows remaining capacity (Ah and %), real-time current (A), voltage (V), and secondary battery voltage
  • Programmable low-voltage disconnect protects batteries from harmful deep discharge; includes an emergency override button
  • Compatible with 12V and 24V systems and multiple battery chemistries: lead-acid, gel, AGM, LiFePO4
  • Plug-and-play installation with included communication cable, 35mm² braided ground strap, and compact shunt design
  • Ultra-low power consumption (~5mA) minimises drain on the monitored battery

Built for Demanding Mobile and Off-Grid Applications

Whether you're managing a caravan solar system, a 4WD dual-battery setup, or a marine electrical system, the Votronic 200S reduces the risk of unexpected battery failure. By providing accurate, real-time data, it helps you make informed decisions about energy usage and charging. The automatic load disconnect function safeguards your battery investment, while the secondary battery voltage display keeps you aware of your vehicle's starting battery health.

Unlike generic battery monitors that rely on voltage alone, the Votronic 200S accounts for charging and discharging currents, giving you a true picture of battery state. This is particularly valuable for LiFePO4 batteries, where voltage remains flat for most of the discharge curve. The monitor's ability to handle up to 400A for short durations makes it suitable for high-surge loads like inverters or winches.

Take Control of Your Energy System

Upgrade your battery management with the Votronic 200A Battery Monitor and eliminate the guesswork from off-grid power. Order today to gain precise visibility and protect your battery investment for the long haul.

Understated Style
Color: Brown/Black
I prefer Timex over Casio because of their superior aesthetics. Timex watches have never failed me. This model fits smaller men's wrists around 6 inches in diameter, and the watch face is the right size. The black face with white numbers is easy to read. The metallic body looks awesome with the brown leather band. I wish they made one with a white face. The storage battery holds up very well when there is no sun. Accuracy is excellent. This is a very presentable and versatile watch for informal wear and business casual situations.

Quality and Reliability - Hit or Miss
Color: Brown
Update: I went ahead and bought this watch again. Like many other Timex watches I’ve had in the past, the first one was faulty but I decided to roll the dice again. I needed a beater solar watch for when I go hiking, camping, etc. There are several options out there—Vaer, Casio, Citizen. I liked the look of Vaer, but their solar offerings are overpriced, IMO. The Citizen watches priced similarly to this Timex are too big and don’t offer sapphire. Casio’s analog watches have the same issue. There is their Edifice watch, but I don’t like integrated bracelets. So Timex it is again. 36mm, sapphire, solar powered, 100m water resistant, a field watch, it has what I'm looking for. And this second time around, it's been good so far— it's been reliable and accurate. So, it’s the luck of the draw with these watches. It’s one of the more attractive Timex watches, too. If I hadn't had a prior bad experience with this watch, I would give it 5 stars. But due to the inconsistency in quality, I can’t rate it higher than 3 stars. Original review: I wanted to add a solar powered watch to my collection. So, after some research, I decided to buy this one. It had great specs—sapphire crystal, 100m water resistance, solar powered (of course), looked good in pictures. A perfect grab-and-go-anywhere watch. It was love at first sight when I got this watch; It was seeming like a great bang-for-buck product… That is, until I looked at it as a timekeeping device—its primary purpose. I compared it to my other watches and noticed it was 4 seconds behind. I thought maybe I had set the time wrong, so I corrected it. A few days passed, and again it was several seconds behind. I repeated this process a few more times, same results. So here’s the problem: this watch doesn’t keep good time. More specifically… This QUARTZ watch doesn’t keep good time. Derided by watch collectors as having no soul, accuracy is a quartz watch’s most redeeming quality. It may lack soul, but you can’t say it doesn’t excel at timekeeping; it wipes the floor with mechanical watches in that department. But this quartz watch doesn’t do that. At least the one I got didn’t do that; your results may vary. But this is the third Timex in a row that I’ve bought that cost over $100 that had some kind of major defect… Three times in a row.. I can’t rationalize buying a Timex anymore. At least not at the higher price range. Luckily, Amazon has a good return policy.

Very versatile
Color: Brown/Black
Fantastic watch, as long as it's exposed to some light will never run out. I have expensive watches as well, but I end up coming back to this one frequently as it's dressy enough, and small enough to fit well under motorcycle gloves. Sapphire glass at this price point is really great as well.
