Ook nieuw in NBA Live 08 is Quickstrike Ballhandling. Op alle momenten heb je snellere en directere controle over de bal. Je kunt je tegelijkertijd afzetten tegen je tegenstander en met de rechter analoge stick volledige controle over het spel behouden. Het overzicht van het spel is ook verbeterd, dankzij de Hot Spots. Deze geven aan van welke plek een speler op zijn best is. Recensie(s) Er zijn maar weinig dingen zeker in het leven. Nooit weet je precies wat er gaat gebeuren, om over het hoe en waarom nog maar niet te beginnen. Van een ding kun je echter wel zeker zijn, want Electronic Arts komt ieder jaar weer met een lichting sportspellen. De FIFA-serie is inmiddels al bijna vijftien jaar oud, maar ook de NBA Live-serie komt aardig in die richting. Op dat vlak is de concurrentie voor EA Sports minder dan op andere. Een geduchte tegenstander is wel de NBA 2K-serie, waarvan het er bij deel 2K8 lange tijd naar uit zag dat die niet in Europa zou verschijnen. Het gaat nu toch gebeuren, maar kan EA Sports ondanks de dominantie van 2K toch zijn hoofd boven water houden? EA Sports heeft een aantal dingen aangepast in vergelijking met NBA Live 07, en die verschillen zijn duidelijk te merken. In 07 hadden bepaalde spelers nog iconen bij zich op het veld. Het icoon stond voor een categorie waarin die speler dan soms een behoorlijke boost kreeg. Deze zijn weg, maar nog steeds zijn de supersterren duidelijk te herkennen. Buiten dat ze vaak gewoon beter zijn hebben ze ook nog eens hun eigen specifieke bewegingen. Iemand als Kobe Bryant is iemand die heel belangrijk kan zijn voor een team. Hij is degene die vlak voor het einde van de wedstrijd de bal krijgt om die laatste broodnodige punten te pakken. Typisch voor hem is de manier waarop hij zijn tegenstander dolt, een draaibeweging maakt en tijdens het achteruit springen een schot lost. Er zijn meerdere supersterren in het spel die soms van dat soort typische bewegingen uitvoeren. Niet constant, maar alleen op het moment waarop de situatie ernaar vraagt, net zoals dat in het echt voorkomt. Een andere toevoeging is het zogenaamde grid-systeem. Met een druk op de knop komt er een soort schema over het veld, waarop je kunt zien vanaf welke plekken je speler het makkelijkst schiet. Nu zal het dus bijna niet meer voorkomen dat je vanaf de verkeerde plek schiet, en daardoor gefrustreerd raakt. Ook is het zo dat als je de linker trigger ingedrukt houdt, de door jou bestuurde speler dan vanzelf meeloopt met de tegenstander. Of het nou echt een nuttige toevoeging is zul je zelf moeten beslissen, maar voor mensen die wat minder kijk hebben op het spelletje is dat heel handig. De computergestuurde spelers zijn doorgaans wel goed, maar toch zijn er zo nu en dan wat rare momenten. Je teamgenoten lijken zich niet constant vrij te lopen, wat toch wel behoorlijk belangrijk is als je de bal af wilt spelen. Het meeverdedigen had ook iets scherper gekund, de meeste blocks en rebounds zullen voor jouw rekening zijn. Voor de echte liefhebbers is er veel te doen. Zo zijn er deze keer verschillende nationale teams waar je een FIBA-toernooi mee kunt spelen. En de serie stond er bekend om, ook deze keer is hij er weer: het All-Star Weekend. Dat zal een hoop wedstrijdjes driepunters schieten en dunken opleveren. Dit gebeurt allemaal met de aandacht, lichteffecten en enthousiasme die je ook in het echte All-Star Weekend ziet. Toch zijn er dingen die ik mis. In het echt is er bijvoorbeeld een Challenge waarbij een huidige, gepensioneerde en vrouwelijke spelers van een team samen moeten werken en vanaf bepaalde plekken op het veld moeten schieten. Dat soort dingen had ik leuk gevonden om terug te zien in het spel, maar vergis je niet, wat EA Sports ervan maakt is hoe dan ook mooi om te zien. Wat me vrijwel direct opviel is dat er wel het een en ander is aangepast wat betreft besturing en uiterlijk, maar dat er maar bar weinig extra modi zijn in vergelijk met vorig jaar. Dezelfde modi zitten er in, je kunt bijvoorbeeld rustig een losse wedstrijd of een heel seizoen spelen. Ook de diepgaande Dynasty-modus zit er in, en deze blijft erg interessant. Niet alleen maar schieten, maar ook allerlei beslissingen nemen rondom je team: het maakt het net even wat completer. Online werkt het naar mijn ervaring prima: ik merkte weinig van vertraging. Naast losse wedstrijden kun je nu ook competities opzetten, wat weer een extra speelervaring met zich meebrengt, en het geheel werkt ook goed. Bij de dunkwedstrijden in het All-Star Weekend kan het lastig zijn, maar over het algemeen is NBA Live 08 goed te besturen. De spelers zijn goed te besturen en reageren accuraat als je iets wil doen. Waar je wel aan moet wennen is dat het spel bij NBA Live 08 behoorlijk snel is. Het ligt natuurlijk aan jezelf, maar doorgaans zul je merken dat je vrij snel je aanval hebt uitgevoerd en dat je daarna als een dolle weer terugmoet om een aanval van je tegenstander af te weren. Dit tempo ligt wat hoger dan in bijvoorbeeld NBA 2K7, maar er is wel aan te wennen. Waar trouwens maar niet aan te wennen is, is dat de spelers soms wat vreemde dingen lijken te doen. Momenten dat je ineens achter het bord staat terwijl je schiet of dat je speler ietwat houterig overkomt zijn niet zeldzaam. Als ontwikkelaar kun je nog zo goed je best doen op hoe je de speler laat bewegen maar als de bewegingen er soms onnatuurlijk uitzien is dat gewoon jammer. Conclusie: In NBA Live 08 zijn de spelers lekker soepel te besturen en de presentatie zit ook goed in elkaar. De Dynasty-modus en het online gedeelte zijn beiden ook interessant, maar aan de andere kant mist NBA Live 08 echte toevoegingen en maken je spelers soms wat vreemde bewegingen. NBA Live 08 is niet het beste basketbal spel ooit gemaakt, maar het spel biedt genoeg gameplay om in ieder geval voor sportfanaten en basketbalfans interessant te zijn.

Totally worth it!!
So I have combination skin with a tendency toward closed comedones and I decided to try this product because I heard that azelaic acid helps with closed comedones. Honestly, I didn’t have very high expectations because my closed comedones have been very stubborn. I was already using the COSRX BHA before introducing this product, but it worked very slowly, so I wasn’t really getting the results I wanted from that product alone. Let me tell you that once I introduced this product, I finally started seeing the results I was looking for. I have noticed that my closed comedones have been resolving way faster than when I was only using the BHA and my skin also feels softer and overall looks healthier. I also want to mention that even though I don’t get inflamed breakouts very often, when I do get one, I feel like this product helps it calm down and go away much faster. I did start incorporating it slowly, and I highly recommend that anyone who wants to start using this product do the same and not rush into using it every day right away. Despite that, I personally haven’t had any issues with irritation at all and I actually find it very soothing, but you always need to be careful when adding new actives to your routine. I am currently using this product 4-5 days a week, once a day, and on the days I do not use it, I use my BHA instead. I also find that this product lasts a long time, since you only need like five drops for the entire face and the consistency is very watery. I’ve been using it for around two months, and there is still plenty left. Overall, I really recommend this product because it has helped me a lot, and while I am not sure if this alone would be enough to treat closed comedones, I would definitely say it is a great complement to other treatments.

I think this will help my rosacea redness!
Update: after using this 2 months, I will be reordering. The rosacea redness to my cheeks and nose have drastically reduced. I use it every other day. I tried a routine of on alternating mornings using vitamin c one day and this Anua azelaic acid the next. Cleanse, tone, azelaic acid, and then whatever I'm doing next (including SPF if I'm going outside). I don't use it at night, preferring a different routine with actives at night. I don't use the hypochlorous acid on my face very often at all now so the Anua is doing the work of hydrating and helping calm my skin. Note that I have aging skin that likely could be prone to dryness but I am meticulous about my skincare so my skin isn't dry - so though they advertise it's for blemish-prone skin, I use it for rosacea redness, and alternating plus hydrating before and after azelaic acid is what works for my skin. ------ The first time I tried this over my entire face, it made my face immediately red so I considered returning it. However, I had used other serums and thought maybe it was just too much at once for my rosacea-prone skin, and that I used too much as well. (I will add that I did a small patch test along my jawbone and let that absorb for hours - always do a patch test of an unfamiliar product!) After a couple of days, I tried it again, and I am impressed! This time, I hadn't used my tretinoin the night before - since I just went up in strength, my skin has been reactive. This time I cleansed my face using Thayer's milk cleanser, which is very soothing, and in fact is one of the only non-Korean beauty products in my skincare routine. Then I used my TirTir milky toner. I waited 5-10 minutes, then I applied just a little bit of this Anua Azelaic Acid over my entire face. I was very surprised that there was no burning or irritation. And also surprised that a few minutes later some of the redness on my cheeks were calmed down--nothing earthshaking but there was a slight difference. I let that absorb/sit for about 10 minutes and then I applied my Cosrx ceramide booster serum, which is very hydrating, and after letting that absorb for 5 or 10 minutes, I applied my Cosrx snail music to further hydrate. I'll be applying another moisturizer to seal it all in. I tried it again the next day and had similar results - again, not using my tret the night before or the C the same morning. This likely, at least at first, won't be a part of my daily routine as I think it could be too strong for my skin along with the other actives I use. For example, I won't use it when I apply my vitamin C until I lower the strength or until my skin is used to the azelaic acid, and I definitely wouldn't use it right before or right after tretinoin. I will do as they suggest and at first use it maybe 2x a week, so on weekends when I don't use my tretinoin or vitamin c, I will use this Anua azelaic acid. After doing this for a couple weeks, I may experiment and start using it more often --perhaps alternating this and my vitamin c since my vitamin c is really strong. As well I may consider lowering my vitamin c strength, and go back to the lower strength tret. (Update: I was out of town so I took a 4-day break from tret and vitamin c and tried this every morning after toning with hypochlorous acid (I let the HA dry completely first), and this didn't irritate my skin at all, and in fact, helped the redness. I am going to find a way to add it to my routine maybe by alternating days using this and vitamin c.) This is fragrance free, which is a must for me. The consistency is thin but not overly watery - glides on easily. I bought mine on Spring Sale so I'm happy about that. I will also add that I use Metrocream, and hypochlorous acid spray (Prequel) on my skin a few times a week and that helps the redness as well. It's an experimental process to find what will be right for my rosacea and aging skin. I am hoping with regular use my redness will calm even more as I hate the flushing across my cheeks and nose that I've dealt with for many years. I'm hopeful!
