Grootte, standplaats en combineren

Deze compacte heester / opgaande boom wordt 2 a 3 meter groot en is dus ook geschikt voor middelgrote borders. Combineer ze met siergrassen en vaste planten zoals:

  • Adderwortel 'Persicaria' 
  • Vrouwenmantel 'Alchemilla'
  • Leliegras 'Liriope'
  • Kattenstaart 'Lythrum'
  • Ooievaarsbek 'Geraniums' 
  • Zegge 'Carex' siergrassen

Ook als solitaire heester plaatsen midden in de tuin is ook een prima idee. Geschikt voor een halfzonnige bodem met een iets zurige voedingsrijke bodem die doorlatend vochtig is en zeker niet te droog. Verder weinig eisen qua grondsoort.

Vroeger werd deze boomsoort wel Rhamnus frangula genoemd. Deze fijnbladige vuilboom heeft langwerpige bladeren en de besvruchten kleuren van helder groen tot rood/zwart later in het jaar. Vogels als lijsters en fazanten zijn hier dol op. Deze smalbladige Els soort is winterhard en echt een eyecather voor uw borders of luxe bosplantsoen.

Be patient with the awful odor and greasy texture because it soaks in and smell dissipates

I think i'll edit this review after using consistently for a month or so, but this is my initial impression after 2 uses. First of all, the god awful stench was so off-putting that at first i thought 'there is no way i can use this. It is so disgusting and overbearing'. But it does soak in very quickly and the smell does dissipate if you can just get through it for a bit. (you will not walk around all day smelling awful). So the greasy, oily feeling initially and the awful smell does dissipate and it soaks into the skin beautifully. It is definitely worth continued use to see the results. Just be forewarned if you don't like overbearing bad smells (and i mean it smells like you fell into a pool of insect repellent), you will have to persevere.
