Description:

European printing technology came in the 1790s to a continent where there were and still are age-old modes of communication developed by Indigenous Australians. The present volume, while recognising this essential prehistory, is devoted to the print civilisation imported by the newcomers.

Throughout the nineteenth century books, magazines and newspapers arrived in great quantities from elsewhere, notably the British Isles. Appropriate means of distribution bookshops and libraries were created in the various colonies, but, as the population grew after the gold rushes, local manufacturing became evermore necessary.

From the efforts of convict and ex-convict printers before 1820 to the achievements of numerous professionals after 1850, one can follow the expansion of production, dissemination and reading. Alongside the Bush, there were urban centres like Melbourne and Sydney, ranking in size with many major European cities by 1890. Thus, it was possible to find in Victoria's capital what was plausibly claimed to be the biggest bookshop in the world: Cole's Book Arcade.

Buggy Bands for a camping trip
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 12)
Because of my experience with bugs loving me and using similar buggy bands to ward them off, I purchased these Buggy Bands for an upcoming camping trip so I can enjoy the great outdoors without the side effects of the bugs.

My Go-To Cotton Rounds — Don’t Fall Apart & No Fuzz
Color: Ultra Soft, Size: 100 Count (Pack of 3)
These are my favorite cotton rounds, and I’ve tried everything from dollar store versions to higher-end “eco” brands. I keep coming back to these. They stay intact and do not separate, even when fully saturated. I use them for micellar water, toner, and nail polish remover, and they hold up well with all three. No fuzz left behind, no pilling, and no pieces sticking to my face. The thickness is just right — not too thin, not overly bulky. They’re soft but durable. I also like that one side has a slight texture. It’s not harsh or labeled as “exfoliating,” but it does have a subtle grip that helps with product application without irritating the skin barrier. Compared to cheaper brands that fall apart and more expensive ones that don’t perform any better, these strike the perfect balance of quality and value. Definitely a repeat purchase for me. TL;DR: Soft, durable, no fuzz, and don’t fall apart. Perfect thickness for toner, micellar water, and nail polish remover. My consistent repurchase.
