Alex Mendham and His Orchestra, London's premiere dance orchestra specializing in popular music of the 1920s and 1930s, play two selections recorded exclusively for this limited edition 78 rpm record. "Okay Toots," made famous by Eddie Cantor in the 1934 film Kid Millions, is superbly rendered here as a bright fox trot. "Troublesome Trumpet" features Angus Moncrieff in the title role for the unusually dark but hot tune. The lush period arrangements for both are played to perfection and recorded with astonishing depth and clarity to vividly recall the elegance and excitement of the art deco era. Two unforgettable sides recorded direct to two-track stereo in Hampstead, London, England on 2 October 2012. All copies of the record include a complimentary MP3 download of the two selections so you can enjoy the music even if you don't have a turntable.
As a special fundraiser, the first 30 copies have been pressed in crystal-clear vinyl. We are offering them in sleeves hand-autographed by Alex Mendham. A perfect gift for yourself or the record collector in your life.
Limited edition pressing of 300 copies.
Note: This is a stereo, microgroove, 10-inch vinyl record meant to be played at 78 RPM. It is compatible with all modern turntables (post-1950s) fitted with a stereo cartridge and capable of spinning at 78 RPM. For best results, we strongly recommend a cartridge capable of tracking at 3-4 grams. Rugged cartridges designed for DJ use (like the Stanton 500, Shure M44-7, or Ortofon VNL) work better than delicate, high-end "audiophile" cartridges. Use an ordinary LP stylus; no special stylus is required. This record should NOT be played on vintage "wind-up" machines with steel needles. For your convenience, a complimentary MP3 download of this record will be provided upon checkout.
